If you guys like pictures, this blog post is for you.
As I stated in my video, here's my Internship 101 Blog Post!!:)
We all lined up outside of the Hearst Tower. When we finally walked in we received our itinerary for the day! They gave us mini water bottles and a cute book to take notes!
Look! It's Ann Shoket, Editor in Chief of Seventeen Magazine! She talked about her experience and gave us some tips and rules about Internships! I thought I would share them with you guys.
1) It matters A LOT where you intern
2) Surround yourself with the right people
3) Listening is the way to learn
4) Seek out people
5) Volunteer for EVERYTHING
Three Rules for Acing an Interview
1) Sit at the edge of your seat, lean forward
2) Think of it as a conversation, make sure to tell the interviewer something they don't already know
3) Write a GREAT thank-you note, make it personal & give it in on the same day as the interview (Email or Handwritten)
BTW- sorry the pictures aren't that zoomed! I didn't bring my other lens:(
Next up was Howard Grier, Associate Publisher of Marketing at Seventeen Magazine!
His presentation was very informative and organized. He had everything up on the screen, so it was super easy to write down!

3) Keep it brief
Salutations- generic is better than something wrong
*Last line of cover letter- write how you're going to follow up

-List the companies you want to intern for, send your résumé, and then follow up
Sorry I forgot to take a picture of the amazing Intern Queen- Lauren Berger, but she did speak about her experience interning and all!
She obviously gave us some tips!
* Stay in touch with the people you meet (networking) - 3x per year
* Put yourself out there!
PROFESSIONAL CONTACTS
- lasting connections
-network
"Ralph Called Taylor a Flirt"
This is basically a way to help you remember these steps!
R- recognize the potential of a contact
C- contact 3x a year
T- track your contact (news) ex. congratulate them on their promotion
A- add value: don't always take, but also give like send them an article you think they would like
F- follow up after two weeks
Again sorry about the zooming for the pictures. Below are different outfits to wear at your internship!
After everyone spoke, we walked out of the theater area. They provided drinks and treats for all of us to munch on! They also set up separate tables for all the speakers! People waited on line to talk to them about any questions they might've had. There was even a section for Cargo Cosmetics to touch up peoples make-up and a photobooth area.
Ah! GOODIE BAG TIME~ if you guys didn't check out my video already, I make a video about all the items I received from the goodie bag!
After the event, Joanna and I headed over to the Nanoosh restaurant at Union Square and grabbed some dinner!
I ate a hummus falafel platter (?)
It was delicious!
Joanna had a falafel wrap with some quinoa.
