This was our first ever Thanksgiving Dinner in our family. Feelings of both joy and happiness were in the air. I was super excited and anxious for this busy busy day. I knew there would be a ton of preparation to be done. It was our first time cooking a turkey and baking a pie. First time for everything. I had no idea what to expect!
It was a very very very tiring day. Cooking all day is very difficult. I don't know how chefs do it. I love cooking, but man....
We went to Trader Joe's to purchase our brined 12 lb turkey the saturday before Thanksgiving. I put it in the freezer until the day before. I left it in the fridge to defrost! However, by Thanksgiving day it didn't melt all the way. It was practically still frozen. I think this was the biggest issue we had. We looked up how to defrost our turkey and man oh man. We did our best! It wasn't done till after we all had our first plates of food. However, that was okay! I think it was still super delicious. Well....
besides the turkey fiasco, I think we had a pretty successful first Thanksgiving dinner! Although we had a small kitchen and a small dining area, I am so thankful that we even had the space to create this scrumptious dinner.
I'm excited to cook our next Thanksgiving meal and hopefully we will start a tradition.
Here are some pictures of our journey in creating our Thanksgiving dinner!
The next two pictures are pretty random, but hey gotta show you guys my eye make-up for the day. Nothing too fancy, but hey here ya go:) It was very very subtle. I didn't want to do anything crazy for my small, cozy thanksgiving dinner with my family.
Omg. Looking through these pictures I remember how delicious everything was.
